Government Leaders

Scripture

“First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way.-1 Timothy 2:1-2

Observation

Paul instructs Timothy that prayer for government leaders isn’t optional—it’s part of the church’s regular intercession. By praying for “kings and all who are in high positions,” believers acknowledge God’s sovereignty over earthly rulers and seek His guidance for them. The goal is that their leadership fosters peace and stability, allowing the gospel to flourish and godly living to be possible.

Prayer

Lord, You are the King of kings and the Ruler of all nations. We lift up to You our president, our governor, mayor, and all who serve in positions of authority. Grant them wisdom to lead with justice, courage to do what is right, and hearts that are humble before You. May their decisions promote peace, protect the vulnerable, and honor righteousness. Use their leadership to make it possible for Your people to live quiet, godly lives, and let Your name be glorified in our land. Amen.
