Safety in Schools

Scripture

“People were bringing little children to Jesus for him to place his hands on them, but the disciples rebuked them. When Jesus saw this, he was indignant. He said to them, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. -Mark 10:13, 14 NIV

Observation

Jesus loved children. In Matthew 18, Jesus speaks of our responsibility to protect them, to keep them from stumbling. Yet children today live in a world with unimaginable dangers – school violence, bullying, trafficking and social media that so often teaches the wrong lessons. Let us lift up our children, our teachers and our schools, asking God to protect our children and give guidance and wisdom to those who teach and care for them.

Prayer

Father, we know children hold a special place in Your kingdom. Jesus modeled a special love and care for littles ones, and we want to follow His example. We want school campuses to be places of safety, love and learning for all students. As a community, help us do all that we can and should to support school administrators, teachers, resource officers and staff as they protect young ones each day. May the reality of each student’s school day be one of safety, love and learning. Amen.
